Examination Text | Mary Brown aged about 18 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed as a vagrant from the Parish of St Margaret in the city of Canterbury in the County of Kent upon her oath saith that she never was married bound an apprentice kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor hath been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together, that she was born in St Martin's Court in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid, that her father Richard Brown was a Taylor by trade who died as this Examinant hath heard when she was but two years of age, and further saith not. Taken in the workhouse of 20th Day of April 1752. |
