Examination TextMary Burne aged 30 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she is the wife of Thomas Burne (gone from her) to whom she was married at the Fleet eight years ago, that he was born in the Kingdom of Ireland but what part she this Examinant knoweth not, that he never did any act to gain a settlement in England to this Examinant's knowledge, that she this Examinant was before her intermarriage and while single a yearly hired servant to Mr Jones at the White Swan in Long Acre in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid for the space of 18 months at the yearly wages of 4 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the same three years before her intermarriage as aforesaid, that she never kept house rented 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor hath been a yearly hired servant since. Taken in the workhouse of 12th Day of October 1758.
