Examination TextJames Watson aged 64 years and upwards in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon his oath saith that he is a Dyer by trade and was bound an apprentice by an indenture for seven years to Thomas Birch a Dyer between Vinegar Yard and Russell Court in that part of Drury Lane which is in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields and there served all his said time out which expired 43 years ago, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor hath been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since, that he was married to his present wife Catherine at St Catherine Creed Church in Leaden Hall Street London 42 years ago. Sworn the sixth day of May 1758 a before Benjamin Cox.
