Examination TextMary Rose aged 26 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she is the wife Walter Rose (gone abroad) to whom she was married at the Fleet about five years ago, that he was born in the Highlands of Scotland and further of his settlement this Examinant knoweth not, that she this Examinant was before her intermarriage (while single and unmarried) a yearly hired servant to Mr Durham a Victualler at the Kings Arms in St Martin's Court in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid for the space of two years and an half at the yearly wages of 4 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the same near 12 months before marriage, that she never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes, that she hath one child living by her said husband to wit Hector aged one year and upwards now with this Examinant. Taken in the workhouse the 31st Day of August 1757.
