| Examination Text | The Examination of Ann Joyce singlewoman lodging at Mr Vince's in Chandos Street in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields taken upon oath this 19th Day of June 1761. This Examinant on her oath saith that she never was married, that she is 26 years of age, that she was a yearly hired servant to Mr Patnold a Jeweller at Mr Pilleau's in Chandos Street aforesaid for the space of three years and six weeks at the yearly wages of 7 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the same in the month of March, that she hath not kept house rented 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes since, And this Examinant on her voluntary oath further saith that she is now Great with child or children which is or are likely to be born a bastard or bastards and to become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and that David Price a [?] lodging at Mr Taylor's, a Taylor in Seymour Court had carnal knowledge of her body the fifth day of August last in and upon a bed in a room up one pair of stairs backwards at the house of Mr Pilleau's aforesaid and several times afterwards at which or one which times he the said David Price did beget her with child or children she she now goeth with and is pregnant of, and that he the said David Price is the true and only father thereof and no man else.
