Examination TextThe Examination of Ann Holt lodging at Mr Lloyd's a Carpenter in that part of Exeter Street which is in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields within the liberty of Westminster taken upon oath this 24th Day of September in the year of our Lord 1768. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is about 25 years of age, that she never was married, that she was a yearly hired servant to Mr Thomas Molton a Cabinet Maker near Denmark Court in the Strand in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of one year and five months at the yearly wages of 6 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the same last May, that she never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes, And this Examinant on her voluntary oath further saith that she is now Great with child or children which is or are likely to be born a bastard or bastards and to become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin the Fields, and that Thomas Molton junior (residing with his Father aforesaid) had carnal knowledge of her body some time in the month of February last in and upon a bed in the Garrett at the house of Mr Molton in the Strand aforesaid at which time he the said Thomas Molton did beget her with child or children she now goeth with and is pregnant of, and that he the said Thomas Molton is the true and only father thereof and no man else. Sworn the day and year abovesaid before Peter Planck.
