Examination TextThe Examination of Ann Blundell singlewoman in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St Bridget London taken upon oath this 27th Day of December in the year of our Lord 1770. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 25 years of age, that she never was married, that she was a yearly hired servant to Mr Wright Coal Merchant in Northumberland Street in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of one year and nine months at the yearly wages of 6 pounds one shilling diet and lodging, quitted the same about a year ago, that she never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since, And this Examinant on her voluntary oath further saith that she is now Great with child or children which is or are likely to be born a bastard or bastards and to become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and that John Bruwood, Valet to Samuel Dash Esqr. who lodges at an Apothecary's opposite St. George's Church, Hanover Square had carnal knowledge of her body about the 23rd of April last at the house of Mrs Midgeley's in Vine Street Piccadilly in the Kitchen in the said house and several times afterwards at different places at which or one of which times he the said John Bruwood did beget her with child or children she now goeth with and is pregnant of, and that he the said John Bruwood is the true and only father thereof and no man else. Sworn the 27th Day of December 1770 before Peter Planck.
