Examination TextThe Examination of Mary Morrell lodging at Mr Hunt's in Marygold Court in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields taken this first of September 1773. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 31 years of age, that she is the widow of John Morrell (who died last February) to whom she was married at St Martin's Church in this Parish 15 years ago, that her said husband was bound an apprentice by an indenture for seven years to Mr Morrell his Uncle in that part of Denmark Court which is in the Parish aforesaid and there served his said Master all the said term which expired about 18 years ago, that she this Examinant hath been informed and verily believes, that her said husband never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together to this Examinant's knowledge, that she this Examinant hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes since the death of her said husband, that she hath one child by her said husband to wit Ann aged 14 years now with this Examinant.
