Examination TextThe Examination of Elizabeth Barnett in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields taken this 12th Day of November 1783. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 22 years of age, that she never was married, that she was on the 15th Day of October last delivered in the workhouse aforesaid of a Male bastard child (since christened George) yet living and is become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and that George Passenger who lately lived servant to Mr Finch in Maiden Lane Covent Garden did beget of her body the said Male bastard Child, and that he the said George Passenger is the true and only father thereof and no man else.
