Examination TextThe Examination of Sarah Watson in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields taken this second Day of December in the year 1782. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 30 years of age and upwards, that she is the widow of Richard Watson (who died about two years and an half ago), And this Examinant on her oath further saith that she was on the first Day of November last delivered in the workhouse aforesaid of a Male bastard child (since christened Henry) yet living and is become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin the Fields, and that John Shettell a Coachman servant to Mr Newport Coach Master in St Martin's Lane did beget on her body the said Male bastard child, and the he the said John Shettell is the true and only father thereof and no man else. Sworn the day and year first above written before William Hyde, Thomas Bullard, J. Treslove.
