Examination TextJohn Geary aged about 45 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St Anne in Black ffryers London upon his oath saith that while single and unmarried he was a Covenant Servant to Mr Lawrence Siddon Turner and Coach Joiner the corner of the Wood Yard (now Messrs. Kingsted and Poole's) in Long Acre in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of three years and had at the wages of one shilling a week the first year, two shillings a week the second year, two shillings and 6 pence a week the third year, and diet and lodging and there served his said master for the space of two years and upwards under the said covenant, and then the said Mr Siddon died, that he hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since he quitted the aforesaid service, that he was married was present wife Elizabeth at the Parish Church of St Andrew Holborn the sixth-day of July last by whom he hath one child to wit Elizabeth aged about five months now with this Examinant. Sworn the 13th Day of February 1778 before Thomas Bullard. N.B. William was not born in wedlock.
