Examination TextThe Examination of Rose Brimmer lodging at Perry a Ragg Shop in that part of Rose Street which is in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields taken this 17th Day of December in the year 1777. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 25 years of age, that she never was married, that she was a yearly hired servant to Mr Davis and Embroiderer in Castle Street in the Strand in the Parish aforesaid for the space of one year and eight months all under one hiring at the yearly wages of 7 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the same about one year ago, that she never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since, And this Examinant on her voluntary oath further saith that she is now big with child or children which is or are likely to be born a bastard or bastards and to become chargeable to the Parish aforesaid, and that Robert Thacker a Taylor who is in Oxford Castle for a robbery did beget her with child or children she now goeth with and is pregnant of, and that he the said Robert Thacker is the true and only father thereof and no man else. Sworn the 17th Day of December 1777 before J. Hale.
