Examination TextThe Examination of Sarah Englehart lodging with Mrs Frontwine at Mr Douglas the corner of White Hart Court in Castle Street by the Mews in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields taken this 14th Day of August 1777. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 24 years of age and upwards, that she is the wife of John Englehart (gone from her) to whom she was married at the Parish Church of St. James in Piccadilly the fourth Day of April in the year 1775, that her said husband (while single and unmarried) was a yearly hired servant in the capacity of Groom to His Royal Highness the Duke of Cumberland for the space of five years but what wages he had she cannot tell, but was a warrant servant and had 10 shillings and sixpence a week board wages and lay at the stables in the Mews in the Parish aforesaid as her husband hath informed this Examinant, quitted the same about three or four years ago, that he her said husband hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since to this Examinant's knowledge, that she is now pregnant. Sworn the 14th Day of August 1777 before John Goodchild.
