Examination TextThe Examination of Mary Cole lodging in a cellar under a Toy Shop in Princes Street opposite St Anne's Church taken this 13th Day of August 1777. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 37 years of age, that she never was married, that she was on the 16th Day of December in the year 1774 delivered at the house of Mrs Jones's opposite the Chapel in Orange Street in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields of a female bastard child (since christened Johanna) yet living and is become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and that Joseph Kirby Coachman to Robert Taylor Esq in Spring Gardens did beget on her body the said female bastard child, and that he the said Joseph Kirby is the true and only father thereof and no man else. Sworn the day and year first above written before John Goodchild, Robert Taylor.
