Examination TextSamuel Dennis aged 57 years lodging at a chimney sweepers in Hedge Lane in the Parish of St Martin in the fields on his Oath saith that he never was bound an apprentice, that he was a yearly hired servant to Mr Hill a Publican at a house known by the sign of the Green Man in Goodwins Court in St Martin's Lane in the said parish is St Martin in the Fields for the space of four years all under one hiring at a yearly wage of three pounds diet and lodging quitted the same about forty five years ago, that he hath not kept house rented a tenements of en pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor hath been yearly hired servant in any one place for twelve months together since. Sworn the 14th day of May 1785 before William Hyde. [Later note in different hand:] Ann Dennis Marrd. at May Fair 30 years ago Mr. Johnson Amboury Westmr.
