Examination TextWilliam Emmes aged about 42 years, destitute of lodging upon his Oath saith That he was bound an Apprentice by an Indenture for seven years to Mr. Thomas Sells a Coach maker near Turners Court in St Martins Lane in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields and there served all the said Term out which expired about twenty years ago, That he never kept house rented a tenement of ten pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for twelve months together since, That he was married to his present Wife Mary at the Parish Church of St George Hanover Square in the year 1760, by whom he hath one Child to wit William aged 5 years the 4th July last now with this Examinant. Sworn the 31st March, 1778, Before John Goodchild. Born July 4/72.
