Examination TextThomas Walter aged near 41 years lodging in Fore Street in the Parish of St Giles Cripplegate where he broke his leg and was by then sent to St Bartholomew's hospital from whence he was discharged last Wednesday and then came here, saith he is by trade a Shoemaker was bound an apprentice by indenture dated the 17th Day of September 1713 for [blank] years to one Michael Fisher who lodged in the house of one Henry Pritchard in White Hart Yard in this Parish whome he there served three years and a half, and then his master removed to one Nichols's at the Two Sawyers in Cross Lane by Long Acre where he this Examinant served the remainder of his time which expired about 25 years ago, and that he never kept a house rented 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes or was a yearly hired servant, that he is a widower and hath so been a fortnight, hath no child. [In the margin:] He also [saith] that eight guineas was given with him and was mentioned in the indentures, but never heard of his indentures is being registered.
