Examination TextMartha Elsegood aged 40 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she is the widow of William Elsegood (who has been dead about two years), that he lived in and rented a house for the space of eight years in Brewers Yard Bedfordbury in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields at the yearly rent of 14 pounds besides taxes, quitted the same about eight years [ago] and never kept house rented 10 pounds by the year or paid any parish taxes since, nor hath she this Examinant since his decease, that she hath two children by her said husband now living to wit Ann aged 12 years and Martha aged seven years both now with this Examinant. Sworn this second Day of December 1746 before [blank].
