DescriptionRead the Petition of Maria Johnson alias Isabella Hughes, 20 years old, a Native of Brighton, where her mother was a Pastry Cook, & whom Petitioner left 3 years since having come to London to see her Grandmother & while with her ran away with a young man, who followed her from Brighton. With him she lived 12 months, when he left her & went to Sea. She then became a Prostitute & continued so more than a year. She has been in Newgate five months, having been convicted of stealing ?21 - & five pounds worth of Goods & sentenced to seven years transportation. She declares her innocence of any knowledge of the Theft; but that she was much intoxicated & in company with a man named Lary & Mary Ryan, in whose house the Property was found. They were both transported. But Petitioner's case having something favorable in it, she was Pardoned by the Prince Regent. Admitted.
