Informacon of Wm Waring< no role > of the Parish of St Andrews Holborne
in ye sd County Cordwainr taken before Jno Bond< no role > Esqr 24th Janry 1703 Saith
that on or abt. the 24th day of December last his this Deponts wifes
Sister Mary Chapman< no role > came to this Depont and told him that her
Mrs (that her Mrs who is the wife of Garratt of Brides
Hall neare Whittumstead in the County of Hartford Esqr as this
Depont beleives) desired to speake wth him, Psuant to wch Message
he this Depont. in the Evening of the same day went to the said
Mad Garratts Lodging wch was then in or neare red
Lyon Street in Holbourne aforesd when & where the Said
Madam Garrett told this Depont that shee had a Servt who
had a bastard childe & that the father of it was but poore
therefore a parish was better able to keepe it then him, and
as he was a poor man a little money might doe him a Kindness
wch he this Depont might have in case he Dropt it wch this
Depont did agree to wth the sd Madam Garrett for 40s and
did then receive of ye sd Madam Garratt or Crowne peice
in Pte and after ye Said childe was Dropt he this Depont
did at 3 SevalltimesPaymts receive of the sd Madam
Garratt the remainder wth a charge from her not to discover
the Father This Depont Further Saith that the sd Madam
Garratt did owne the sd Mary Chapman< no role > to be the Mother
& the Sd Edmund Grennhill< no role > her coach man to be the Father
of the sd Bastard childe That the sd Madam Garratts coach man
did agree wth this Depont to pay him 2s P week and ye
mother was to give another Shilling P weeke for ye keepeing
the sd bastard childe
