to wit Margaret Emmerson< no role > aged about 30
years upon her Oath saith that she never was
married That she lived as a hired yearly Servant
with Mr. Wilson in Great Shire Lane in the Liberty of
the Rolls for One year & 11 Months at the yearly
wages of £6. That she hath Quitted said Service
about four years since which time she has done
no Act to gain a Subsequent Settlement either by
living as a Servant for Twelve Months Renting
House Tenement or Lodging of £10 a year paying
Taxes or otherwise howsoever And this Deponent
further upon her Oath saith That on the First day of
March last past she this Deponent was delivered of a
Male Bastard Child at the house of a Mr. Akerman
in Butcher Row which hath since been half baptized
by the Name of William< no role > That one William Baldrey< no role >
a Journeyman Taylor who lately worked with Mr
Powell in Shoemaker Row in the City of London and
lived with this Deponent in Butcher Row and is now
at Colchester as this Deponent is informed and
believes is the Real and true father of the said Child
he the said William Baldrey< no role > having had carnal
knowledge of this Deponents Body sometime in or about
the beginning of the year 1790 and at several times
since at one of which times he did beget the said
Bastard Child of which she was so delivered as
aforesaid And that he is the only Real and true father
thereof And further this Examinant saith that she is
poor and unable to maintain such Child without Assistance
