Charlott Smith< no role > Aged about 17 Years on her Oath
says she never was Married Rented house paid
Taxes or lived a hired Yearly Servant for one Year
Says her Father was a Native of Scotland and never
gained a Settlement in England to her Knowledge or
Belief Says she was Born at the House of Mr. William
in Orchard Street in the Parish of St. Margt. Westmr .
and can give no other Account of her Settlemt. orwise.
than as aforesaid And furr. upon her Voluntary
Oath says that on the 19th. Day of August last she
was Delivered of a Male Bastard Child in the
House of Mr. Wincapes in Clements Lane Clare
Markett which has since been Baptized by the
name of Wm. Richard< no role > and is become chargeable to
the said Parish of St. Clement Danes she being poor
and unable to maintain the same Says that one
Richard Smart< no role > an Attorney at No. 1 Staple Inn
is the Father thereof he having had Carnal
Knowledge of her Body sometime in the Months
of Octr. or Novr. 1775 but the partlar Day or time
she cannot now recollect and at sevl. difft. times
afterwards at one of which times he got her with
Child of the Male Bastard Child of which she was so
delivered as afsd. and that the said Richd. Smart < no role > &
no other person did beget the same and that he is
the real and true Father thereof
