a Married Woman, that she has lodged in
the Garrett in the same house for some
time past and was Accommodated with
that Room by Mr Minden who rented
the whole house and lived in the Parlour
himself, that he quitted the said house
on Friday last and took his Furniture
out of the Garret as well as the Parlour
on which Account the said Diana
Chettel
< no role > having no bed or Furniture
this Deponent got her a Lodging at
Mr Croxford in Moore Yard Saint
Martins Lane where she left with Mrs David but she wold come to this
Deponents Lodgings and breakfast
dine and sup with him and his Wife
That on Monday morning last (the sixth
Instant) about ten o'Clock this Deponts
Wife came to his Master's Shop in Drury
Lane (Mr. Corbett) and told him that
his Niece (the said Diana Chettel) was
brought to Bed of a Child and this
Deponent says he never knew she was
with Child, whereupon this Deponent
went home to his Lodgings No. 4 where
he found the sd. Diana Chettell in his Bed.

and he asked her where the Child was and
she answered she did not know he then
asked her who delivered her of the Child
and she said that as she was coming from
her Lodging in Moore Yard between seven and eight that morning she was
taken [..] ill that by the time she reached
Covent Garden she could scarcely stande
that a littleish Women with a basket under
her Arm came up to her and asked her
what ailed her and that if she would
give her half a Guinea she would
deliver her of the Child that they came
home together and she delivered her of a
Child in the back Cellar and took the
Child from the said Diana Chettell< no role > and
told her she would take Care of the Child
and went away a little while and soon
returned again to her in the Cellar and
helped her up from off the Floor and
then left her That after Dinner this
Deponent went to his Work again and when
he returned home at Night he asked the
said Diana Chettell why she did not tell
him and his Wife that she was with Child
she said the intended to discover it to them
