into Water they swam but he would not
take upon him to draw a Conclusion that
from that Circumstance the Child was
born alive and breathed as in the Course
of his Practice he has known the
Contrary in divers Cases, that the appears
to be no marks of Violence on the body
of the Child and therefore is inclined
to believe that the sd Child was Still born

deposeth that she has lived between one
and two Years with Mr. Cater and But
Jane Richardson< no role > the supposed Mother
of the sd. Infant [..] Female Child has lived
there as House Maid nearly as long and was
respected by her Master and Mistress
for being a very good Servant and that
this Deponent did not Know that she was
with Child nor does she Know that
any of the Family knew it, that on Sunday
Morning last between ten and eleven o'Clock
when she went into Front Kitchen to light
the Fire she observed the Cupboard door open
which belonged to the said Jane Richardson
(and which used always theretofore to be locked) and the
Cat dragging something out of the Cupboard
tied up in in a Cloth which this Deponent
thought was a Beef Stake which she took
from the Cat and upon opening the Cloth
she found a Parcel [..] in a Sheet
of Paper tied with a piece of old Ribband
and upon opening the same she
discovered it to be a dead Child,
whereupon she took it up [..] to the
House keeper who was a Bed who being
alarmed and afflicted as well as this
Deponent at such a Sight told her to take
it [..] and lock it up till the Family came
home, there being at that time no body
in the House but the said House Keeper
this Deponent and the said Jane Richardson
whereupon this Deponent took the said
dead Child down Stairs and locked it up
in a China Closet and the House Keeper told
this Deponent to take no Notice to the Said
Jane Richardson respecting this sd. dead Child
until
