An Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King at the House of Robert Nightingale< no role > Sign of the Crown in York Street Parish of St. Margaret Westmr
within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church of St. Peter, Westminster ,
in the County of Middlesex , the thirtieth day of August 1793 in the thirty third
Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third, by the Grace of God, of
Great-Britain, France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Anthony
Gell
< no role > , Esq . Coroner of our said Lord the King for the said City and Liberty, on
View of the Body of Richard Wilson< no role > then and there lying dead, upon
the Oath of the several Jurors whose Names are hereunder written
and Seals affixed
good and lawful Men of the said Liberty, duly
chosen, who being then and there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the
King, when, how, and by what Means the said Richard Wilson< no role > came to
h is Death, do upon their Oath say that the said Richard Wilson< no role > on the twenty third day of
August in the year aforesaid at the Parish of St. John the Evangelist in the Liberty aforesaid
To Wit in a Vault underneath Saint John's Church there being employed to move to the
Ground a certain Butt of Porter It so happened, that, accidentally, casually, and by
Misfortune the said Butt, forceably fell to and against him the said Richard [..]
by the Force and weight thereof did then and there thrown him the said Richard Wilson< no role >
to the Ground and that the said Butt did then and there doth upon and over the Body
of him the said Richard Wilson< no role > by means whereof the spine of him the said Richard
Wilson was then and there fractured by means of the said Butt willing over him as aforesaid
of which said fractured Spine he the said Richard Wilson< no role > from the said twenty
third day of August in the year aforesaid to the twenty ninth day of the same Month
in the same Year at the Parish and in the liberty aforesaid and also, at the Parish of Saint
Margaret in the same Liberty to wit in the Westminster Infirmacy there situate did languish
and languishing did live on which said twenty ninth day of August in the year aforesaid
he the said Richard Wilson< no role > in the Hospital aforesaid at the Parish of Saint Margaret
and in the Liberty aforesaid, of the said fractured Spine did die And so the Jurors
aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid, do say that the said Richard Wilson< no role > in manner and
by the Means aforesaid accidentally, casually and by Misfortune came to his Death and
not otherwise And that the said Butt was the Cause of the Death of the said Richard
Wilson, and is of the value of One Shilling and of the Property and in the Possession
of Richard Pearce< no role > of Millbank Street westminster Brewer , or of his Assigns. In Witness whereof
as well the said Coroner as the said Jurors have to this Inquisition set their hands and
Seals the Day Year and Place first above-written
