An Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King, at the Parish of Saint George Hanover Square
within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church of St. Peter, Westminster ,
in the County of Middlesex , the Twenty ninth day of December in the Thirty first
Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third, by the Grace of God, of
Great-Britain, France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas
Prickard
< no role > , Gentleman, Coroner of our said Lord the King for the said City and Liberty, on
View of the Body of John Dane< no role > then and there lying dead, upon
the Oath of Henry Rowed< no role > , John Shepherd< no role > , Charles Ady< no role > , Lewis King< no role >
William Chartes< no role > , Jacob Woodward< no role > , James Urqukard< no role > , Edward Brand< no role >
Charles Savege< no role > , Robert Bruice< no role > , Thomas Workman< no role > , John Collins< no role >
and William Gwyn< no role > good and lawful Men of the said Liberty, duly
chosen, who being then and there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the
King, when, how, and by what Means the said John Dane< no role > came to
his Death, do upon their Oath say, That on the Twenty Eighth day of December
in the year aforesaid the said John Dane< no role > was found drowned and
suffocated in the Water in one of the Cuts belonging to Chelsea Water
Works near the Wooden Bridge, in the said Parish of St. George Hanover
Square within the Liberty and County aforesaid that no Marks of Violence
appeared on the Body but how or by what means the said John Dane< no role >
became drowned and suffocated no Evidence thereof doth appear to the Jurors

In Witness whereof as well as the said
Coroners as the said Henry Rowed< no role > Foreman of the said Jurors, on the
behalf of himself and the rest of his Fellows in their Presence have
to this Inquisition set their Hands and Seals the Day Year and
Place abovementioned.
