Informations taken this Second day
of July 1790 at the Parish of St. Martin in the
Fields within the Liberty of Westmr . in the
County of Midsex upon an Inquisition touching
the death of John Banfield< no role > lying dead in the
said Parish Liberty and County.

Mary Ann Gravestocke< no role > a Lodger at the late
John Banfield< no role > the Deced in Rose Street on her Oath saith
That she has Lodged there about four Years and
generally saw the Deced very day, Says that
this Morning Dept. returned from Covent
Garden Market about Seven o'Clock, and
finding that the Deced's Shop was not opened
this Dept. opened the Work Shop and saw the
Deced Hanging by a Cord which was fastened
to aWoodenpiece of Woodsuppand about
the Deced's Neck his feet touching the Ground
as Dept. thinks, Says that she pulled the ford
and the Deced fell down as did this Dept. That
the Deced appeared to be dead, and Dept.
believes that the Deced Hanged himself
Says that she often heard the Deced walk
about his Bedchamber in the Night and G [..]
having got up out of Bed, and Dept. believes
that the Deced has at times been Disordered
in his Mind for four or five months, past or
upwards, and Says that when she saw the Deced
lost Night he appeared to be Melancholy and
low Spirited.

her Mother Mary Ann Gravestock pulled the
Cord by which he was Hanging and Deced droppd
down, and her Mother fall down with him
That the Deced appeared to be dead, and
Dept. believes that the Deced Hanged himself
and Dept. says that she believes the Deced was
at times Disordered in his Mind
