in the Watch House only-Deponent desired the Warder
to see what an object there was, and the Warder Said he must
be left there and Deponent and Burton then word away
Deponent Says [..] the Deceased appeared to have been
Drinking, but was not Drunk-Deponent says the Deced
was poorly clad, and had no Shoe on the right foot,

John Burton< no role > a Watchman of the Parish of St. Margaret
Westminster , or his Oath saith that ass he was going his
Round on Friday Might last about Ten o'Clock, he same
Patterson the Super [..] mary Watchman at W Greens Door
the Rose and Gown Public Horse in Tothill Street, Patterson
was holding the Deceased, Deponent asked him what was
the matter he replied he had get a Man there, that now
Bed, and he could get no Assistance to get him to the Workhouse Deponent said I will
assist you, which he accordingly [..] for fear the Morn (the
Deceased ) might Dye in the Street and he was taken to the
Watch House and then left in the care of Mr. Skiwing the
Warder who was the only Person in the Watch House. Deced
did not appear to the Deponent to be in Liquor, no door not
recollect that the Deceased spoke, but he appeared to he
Person in Distress

William Skirving< no role > Warder or Mightly Bedel of St,
Margaret [..] Watch House , on his Oath Saith
That or Friday night last a Little after Ten o'Clock
the Deceased was brought to the Watch House by one
Patterson a Super [..] mary Watchman , and Burton a
Watchman , the Deceased appeared to be in Liquor
Patterson and Burton said they had brought him from Mr.
Green's door the Rose and Gown Public House in Tothill Street
he was placed on the Arm Chest, the Deceased set upright
and said Poor Jack the Sailor Several times and also God
Bless You I hope I shant be twined out. Deponent
told hin he might perhaps he turned out when the
Constable and Bedel came, he said God Bless You I hope
not. Deceased and Deponent remained together until
about quarter before Eleven o'Clock the Same Might when
Mr. Ashdon the Bedel came into the Watch House he
asked Deponent who have you got there Deponent said he
had been brought in by the Watchman- Ashdon then
looking at the Deceased, said Oh your's an old Freind of
Mine, you have been Passed, you shant stay here, and
took hold of the Deceased by the Arm and turned him out
at the Door, the Deceased said he hoped he would not turn
him
