Informations of Witnesses taken upon
Oath this 6th. day of August 1782, at the
Dwelling House of Mrs.Douglas
known by the Sign of the Golden Lyon
at Hyde Park corner in the Parish of Saint
George Hanover Square in the Liberty of
Westminster on View of the Body of
Thomas Owen< no role > lying Dead in Saint
George's Hospital in the said Parish and
Liberty. Before Thomas Prickard< no role > Gentleman
His Majesty's Coroner for the said City and
Liberty of Westminster

Julius Griffith< no role > House Surgeon of St. George's Hospital on his oath
saith, That the Deceased was brought to the Hospital about one
o'Clock in the Morning of Thursday last, who said that after
having paid the Turnpike he rode after his Master very fast
and in his way met a Cart supposed a Mail Cart, and the Mare
he rode sluging he went against the Cart whereby he received
a compound Fracture on his Hugh, but did not lay any blame
on any Person, Deponent when called reduced the Fracture and
laid it in as proper State as could be, the Deceased was treated
in every respect judiciously but notwithstanding all Care, a
Mortification ensured which ended in his Death yesterday Morning.
