Informations taken this fifth day
of February 1782 at the Parish of St. John the
Evangalist within the Liberty of Westmr . in the County of
Middlesex upon an Inquisition touching the death of
William Collins< no role > lying dead in the said Parish Liberty
and County.

James Salmon< no role > at the Sign of the Marquiss of Granby
in Great St. Ann's Lane in the Parish of St. John the Wangelett
Westmr. Victualler on his Oath saith That William
Collins
< no role > a Soldier in the Second Regiment of Guards
has lodged in Depts. Hence for ten weeks last past
Says that the deced was in Dept. Taproom or Sunday
Night about Eight o Clock went up Stairs to Bed before Nine
very Sober, Says that, yesterday Morning about
Seven o'Clock (Feby. 4th.) William Salmon< no role > this Depts. Son
an Infant about ten Years of Age who Slept with
Deced, came to Dept. Bedroom and told him that
Collins had shot himself, upon which Dept. went in
Deced's Room and saw Deced lying on his Back
upon the Bed Reeding at his Mouth and a great
deal of Blood upon the Bed, the Deced being dead
and having a Musquet between his legs, and a
great deal of Smoak in the Room, Says that [..] he
believes that the Deced discharged the Musquet
and Shot himself, Says that the Deced the latter
part of last week appeared to be very uneasy
and disturbed, that he was ordered to go upon
Duty.
