An Inquisition Indented, taken our Sovereign Lord the
King, at the Parish of St. Margaret in the City of Westminster
within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church of St. Peter Westminster ,
in the County of Middlesex , the Eleventh day of January in the Eleventh Year
of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third, by the Grace of God, of Great-Britain,
France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas Prickard< no role > , Gentleman,
Coroner of our said Lord the King for the said City and Liberty, on View of the Body of
William Kirkwood< no role > then and there lying dead, upon the Oath of Edward
Harris
< no role > , John Smith< no role > , Thomas Hughes< no role > , Thomas Scot< no role > , William Bond< no role >
John Snook< no role > , Samuel Mitchell< no role > , William Mann< no role > , John Martin< no role > , William Toft< no role > ,
Mark Gale< no role > and Thomas Okell< no role > good and lawful Men of the said Liberty, duly
chosen, who being then and there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the
King, when, how, and by what Means the said William Kirkwood< no role > came to
his Death, do upon their Oath say, That the said William Kirkwood< no role > (Suspected
to have been Murdered) on the Seventh day of January in the Year
aforesaid, at the Parish and in the City Liberty and County aforesaid
being Intoxicated and in Liquor, died suddenly by the Visitation of
God, and through the Inclemency of the Weather, in a natural Way;
and not by any Hurt or Injury received from Mary< no role > his reputed
Wife, or any other Person whatsoever, to the Knowledge of the said
Jurors. In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner as the said
Edward Harris< no role > Foreman of the said Jurors on the behalf of himself
and the rest of his Fellows, in their presence, have to this Inquisitn.
