An Inquisition Indented, taken for our Sovereign Lord the
King, at the Parish of Saint Margaret in the City of Westminster
within the Liberty of the Dean and Chapter of the Collegiate Church of St. Peter, Westminster ,
in the County of Middlesex , the First day of January in the Tenth Year
of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third, by the Grace of God, of Great-Britain,
France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas Prickard< no role > , Gentleman,
Coroner of our said Lord the King for the said City and Liberty, on View of the Body of
Hannah Virtue< no role > then and there lying dead, upon the Oath of James Young< no role > ,
John Smith< no role > , William Smith< no role > , Richard Sill< no role > , Richard Shirlock< no role > , Daniel Barrett< no role > ,
John Poole< no role > , George Banister< no role > , Robert Swinley< no role > , George Brown< no role > , Joseph Meller< no role > ,
Robert Harwood< no role > and William Edgar< no role > good and lawful Men of the said Liberty, duly
chosen, who being then and there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the
King, when, how, and by what Means the said Hannah Virtue came to
h er Death, do upon their Oath say , That a Man whose name is unknown on the
Twentieth day of December in the Year aforesaid, being driving a certain Loaded Cart
drawn by two Horses, in Bridge Street, situate in the Parish aforesaid within the
City Liberty and County aforesaid, and that the said Hannah Virtue being then
standing in the said Street, It so happened that the off Wheel of the said Cart, so
drawn as aforesaid, did then and there Accidentally Casually and by Misfortune force
down and go over the said Hannah Virtue, by Means whereof the said Hannah
Virtue then and there received one mortal Fracture in and upon the left side
of her Head, and one mortal Fracture on her left Leg, of which said mortal
Fractures She the said Hannah Virtue from the said Twentieth day of December
in the Year aforesaid until the Thirtieth day of the same Month and Year at
the Parish and in the City Liberty and County aforesaid did languish and
languishing did live, on which said Thirtieth day of December in the Year
aforesaid at the Parish and in the City Liberty and County aforesaid she the
said Hannah Virtue of the mortal Fractures aforesaid did die. And so the
Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do say, that the said Hannah Virtue
Accidentally Casually and by Misfortune, in manner and by the means aforesaid
came to her Death, and not otherwise. And that the said Of Wheel of the said
Cart moved to the Death of the said Hannah Virtue, and is of the Value of Ten
Shillings, and the Property and in the Possession of Messrs. Cox, Rudd & Company
or of their Assigns. In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner, as the said

Hands, and Seals the Day Year and Place first above written
