Inquisition touching the Death of

Sign of the Watermen's Arms in Hungerford Market
in the
Parish of St. Martin in the fields
on his Oath saith that
on Friday last (an. 22d.) between two [..] in the Afternoon this Dep. and Thomas Cooper< no role >
the
Deced were employed as Porters to carry two Book Cases
from Lady Greenwich's House in Brudenell Street to
Hungerford Stairs
in the said [..] St [..] the fields Says that each of them had a Book case
on their Knots upon their Shoulders, Says that he carried
his Load down Hungerford Stairs
and when he was festching
his Load there he heard the Deced fall down with his Land
upon the Stone Steps, Says that he looked round and saw
the Deced lying upon the Sairs motion less, Says, that the
Deced complained of his Neck, and that this Dept. pulled
his Neck, which gave the Deced much pain, he having
no me of his Limbs, nor any Pulse, Says that the
Deced was soon after carried upon a Chairman's Horse
to the Westmr. Hoosutal as Dept. was informed. and
Deport. saw the Body at the Deced. there on Saturday
last, and was told that he died there that Morning
Says that there was no Person near the Deced when
that he believes the Boy did not do any thing to cause
the Deced to fall, but that the Deced Accidentally fell down
& there by reced the hurt which Dept belives caused his Death
