to Wit.


An Inquisition Indented taken for Our Sovereign Lord the King, at
the Parish of St. Margaret in the City of Westminster within the Liberty of the Dean and
Chapter of the Collegiate Church of St. Peter Westminster in the County of Middlesex , the
Tenth day of April in the Fifth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third
by the grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith and so
forth, before Thomas Prickard< no role > Gentleman Coroner of our said Lord the King for the said
City and Liberty, on View of the Body of William Cartridge< no role > then and there lying Dead, upon
the Oath of Thomas Manlove< no role > , Francis White< no role > , John Curtis< no role > , William Rankin< no role > , Thomas Clarke< no role > , George Allen< no role > , James Spratley< no role >
John Bunney< no role > , John Howard< no role > , Jabez Price< no role > , Thomas Stanley< no role > , John Walton< no role > , John Clarke< no role > , John Mills< no role > ,
Richard James< no role > , and Ignatius Jorden< no role > , good and lawfull Men of the said Liberty duly chosen,
who being then and there duly Sworn and charged to inquire for our said Lord the King
when how and by what Means the said William Cartridge< no role > came to his Death, do upon
their Oath say, That on the Third day of March in the Year aforesaid the said William Cartridge
being in a stable belonging to Michael Rushworth< no role > Inn Holder situate in Tothill Street in the
Parish aforesaid within the City Liberty and County aforesaid, It so happened that a certain Bay
Mare then and there being in one of the Stalls of the said Stable, Accidentally, Casually and by
Misfortune with one of her hinder feet, did strike the said William Cartridge in and upon the
right side of his Head, whereby the said William Cartridge< no role > did then and there receive one mostal
Fracture on the said right side of his Head, of which said mortal Frature he the said William Cartridge< no role >
from the said third day of March in the Year aforesaid, until the Ninth day of April in the same Year, at the
Westminster Hospital situate in the Parish City Liberty and County aforesaid, did languish and languishing
did live on which said Ninth day of April in the Year aforesaid, at the Hospital aforesaid, He the said William
Cartridge of the said mortal Fracture did die. And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do say, that the
said William Cartridge in Manner and by the Means aforesaid, Accidentally, Casually, and by
Misfortune came to his Death, and not otherwise. That the said Bay Mare moved to the Death
of the said William Cartridge, and is of the Price of Ten Pounds, and the Property and in the
Prosession of the Right Honourable the Earl of Suffolk or of his Assigns. In Witness whereof
as well the said Coroner, as the said Thomas Manlove< no role > Foreman of the said Jurors, on the
behalf of himself and the rest of his said Fellows, in their presence, have to this Inquisition
set their Hands and Seals, that Day Year and Place first above written
