Robert Bayley< no role > Servant to Mr. Booth by in Upper Grovenor
Street, in the Capacity of Butler on his Oath saith That he
was in the House keeper's Rooms in Mr. Booth by's House between
twelve and one o'Clock yesterday Morning, Says that he
was alarmed bya Youngone of the Servants who opened
the Door and upon the Deponts going into the Kitchin he
was informed that William Bold< no role > the Deced had hanged
himself in the Stably upon which Dept. immediately run into the Stable
and was followed by two of Mrs. Booth by's Servants, Says
thathe found the Deced hanging in the Hay loft with
a Cord about his Neck and fastened round the Beamthere,
Says that he cut the Cord with a Knife and Deced fell upon
the Floor, Says that the Deced was Dead and believes that
he had been and an hour or more, Says that he has no
reason to suspect any person of hanging the Deced and believes that the
Deced hanged himself, Says that the Deced was of a
chearfull Disposition and frequently used to be Intoxicated
with Liguor, and that when he was so, he was in very high
Spirits, and flighty. Dept. says that soon after he hadfoundat the
Deced down he found a Paper writing in the Room adjoining to
the Hay loft which he believes to be of the Deced's own hand writing,
and is as follows"My Dear Friends I hope you will all take
"warning by me to see my shamefull End, and I would advise you
"to leave off in the first place lewd Women, and in the next to
"refrain drinking, and to live in the fear and love of God, and
"never let the Debil get the upper hand of you; and there is one
"thing in particular I have to desire of all, and that is,
"never to slight that Dearest Sole Bett Hitchcock upon my
"Account, So no more I die in Peace to all Man & Woman Kind
"The Lord's Blessing be with you and remain with you for ever and
"ever Amen. April the 2. 1765. 9 o'Clock."

Thomas Allistone< no role > Coachman to Mrs. Booth by in upper
Grosvenor Street on his Oath saith, That the Deced was sitting
in the Hay loft on Tuesday Evening last, Says that he desired
the Deced to come into the House to Supper, and that Deced
said he would come immediately, Says that he this Dept. went into
the House between Eight and Nine oClock that Evening and
left the Deced in the Hay loft with a Pen and Ink before him, and writing
Says that the Deced did not come in and that the Dept. went
to Bed soon after, Says that he was called up about one
o'Clock yesterday Morning and was informed that the
Deced had hanged himself.
