Informations of Witnesses taken this third day of December
1763 at the Parish of St. Anne within the Liberty of
Westmr . taken on an Inquisition on View of the Body of
James Cook< no role > lying Dead in the said Parish Liberty & County.

John King< no role > of King Street St. Anns Carpenter on his Oath saith
That yesterday Morning about half an hour after nine o Clock
Deponent being in his own House, says that Jane Cook< no role > Sister to
the deced came to him and desired Deponent to come to her
Father's House to opentheDoor of the Room where the Deced used to lye saying that they could not
make the Deced hear, and feared that he was Silk, Says that
he went immediately, and on going into the back room
on the First Floor in Mr. Coak's House (Father to the Deced)
his Wife being then with Deponent, says he then called to
the Deced, and endeavoured to open the Dining Room Door
(where the Deced lay) but finding it fastened and the Deced
not answering, Deponent with a Chisel forced back a Bolt
which was on the inside the Door, and the Door flew opening
Deponent says that when the Door was open he discovered
the Deced hanging in the Dining Room, by a Linen Handkerchief
fastened round the Deced's Neck and tied to a Bed Post at
the feet of the Bed, Deponent says tha he took hold of the
Deced's hands, and found him Dead, says that the deced's
Mother on seeing the Deced hanging, fainted away and the
Deced hung until Joseph Griffin< no role > andWilliam [..] Richard Cooling< no role > Servant
of Mr. Hatton a Neighbour were called in,whoone of whom
assisted the Deponent to lift up the deced, and the other untied
the Handkerchief, and all of them assisted to carry Deced
into the Garret in the same House, and to lay him upon a
Bedstead there. Deponent says that the Shutters of the Room
(where Deced was found) were close shut, but cannot be sure
whether they were fastened, or not,

Joseph Griffin< no role > a Silversmith Working at Mr. Hatton in
Thrift Street St. Ann's , says that being at work there yesterday
Morning about a quarter before ten o'Clock, the Bell ring and
on his coming down Stairs, Mrs. Hetton told Deponent that
