WHEREAS it hath appeared unto us the said Justices, as well upon the Complaint
of the Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Saint
Martin in the Fields
, as upon the Oath of the said

August now last past, was delivered of a Female Bastard Child in the
Workhouse
of and in the said Parish of St. Martin in the Fields
, within the said Liberty
of Westminster
, and that the said Females Bastard Child is now chargeable to the
said Parish of St, Martin in the Fields
; and further, that

in the said County of Middlesex
did beget the said Bastard Child on the Body of her the said

and Whereas it hath been duly proved to us upon Oath, that the said
John Brookes< no role >
hath been duly summoned to appear before us the said Justices,
to the end we might examine into the Cause and Circumstances of the Premises: And
whereas the said

hath appeared before us, in pursuance of
our Summons for that purpose but hath not shewed any sufficient Cause why he should not
be Adjudged the the respected Father of the said Female Bastard Child
We therefore, upon Examination of the Cause and Circumstances of the Premises, as well
upon the Oath of the said Sarah Bearby< no role >
as otherwise, do hereby
adjudge him the said John Brookes< no role >
to be the reputed Father of the said
Bastard Child< no role >

And thereupon we do Order, as well for the better Relief of the said Parish of St.
Martin in the Fields
, as for the Sustentation and Relief of the said Bastard Child, that the
said

shall and do forthwith, upon Notice of this our Order,
pay or cause to be paid to the said Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said
Parish of St. Martin in the Fields
, or to some or one of them, the Sum of Two Pounds
Fourteen Shillings for and towards the Lying-in of the said

[..] of the said Bastard Child to the Time of making this our Order.
And we do also hereby further Order, that the said John Brookes< no role >
shall likewise
pay, or cause to be paid, to the Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said
Parish for the Time being, or to some or one of them, the Sum of Two Shillings
Weekly and every Week from the present Time, for and towards the Keeping, Susten-
tation, and Maintenance of the said Bastard Child, for and during so long Time as the
said Bastard Child shall be chargeable to the said Parish of St. Martin in the Fields
.
And we do further Order, that the said Sarah Bearby< no role >
shall also pay,
or cause to be paid, to the said Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said
Parish for the Time beings, or to some or one of them, the Sum of One Shilling
Weekly and every Week, so long as the said Bastard Child shall be chargeable to the
said Parish, in cafe she shall not nurse and take care of the said Child hereself.
