Upon reading the Humble Petison of James Kercey< no role > Exhibited to this Court
Thereby Shewing that the sd. Petisoner had been Gound by Indre bearing do to
the 22d day of September 1736 at Apprentice to Joshua Stotherd< no role > of the Parish of St. James Joshua writing Master for the
Term of 7 Years From thereto next outstanding the date of the sd. Indre And that
the sd. Peticonr and sure he had been bound an apprentice to the sd. Joshua
Slotherd
< no role > bee a beat & brussed by his sd Master with a Large Stick in a very
Carborous & Johnman manner & sevral Times Kicked down stair's by his sd
Master whereby the sd Peticonr had Seval times reserved great Injury &
damage That the sd Petisoners Master had been about a quarter of a
Year ago arrested & removed to the Kings Bouth prison where he now
remains & is likely to remain And that the said Petisonrs sd Master goods
[..] had been about the some time serged & taken away & his wife turned out of Doors &
these gone into private lodgings where there is no provision or place of [..]
about the sd peticoner to lodge in nor any Pson to bear or instant the sd
peticoner in his sd Art or Mistery of Writing and the sd Peticoner was
oblidged to go to the House of one Samuel Millison< no role > The sd. Peticonr
Father in Law for Virtualls drink & Lodging there the sd. Peticonr had
been ever sense the sd Petisoner Master had been Arrested without any Assistance
from the sd. Master or any other Pson upon his Account or otherwise must
have gone into the Sheets so that the sd. Peticonr could never be Master of
his business unless discharged from the sd Peticonr Master or turned over
to another Master It was therefore prayed that this Court for the [..]
aforesd would be pleased to grant the sd Peticonr an Order of this Count of
the sd Peticonrs Master to attend the Court to Slew Cause why the sd
Peticonr should not be dicharged from his Master or [..] other relief to
the Premisses whereupon the sd. Joshua Stotherd< no role > was ordered to Attend the
Court This day to shew Cause why the sd. Peticonr should not be discharged
From his Indre of Apprenticeship to the sd Joshua Stotherd< no role > & should not
be releived in the Premisses And the sd Joshua Stotherd< no role > being duly served
with atwoCopy of the sd Peticon and order now upon hearing of what was
alledged by the sd Peticoner & [..] his [..] CoursellFirst the sd. Peticonrto thing the Prmisses [..]
& upon examination [..] of Sevral Witnesses upon Oath for the sd. Petconr
and upon hearing one Re Norwood who appeared on the behalf of the sd. Joshua
Stotherd
