The King agt. Mary Jones< no role >
& Charles Jones< no role > }

Thomas Wicks< no role > of Longacre in the Parish of St. Martin in the Feilds
the Libty of Westmr. Carver maketh Oath that he together with one
John Ellis< no role > of the same place Carver on or about the second day of
July 1727 became Sureties or pledges for the abovenamed Charles
Jones for his appearance at the then next sessions of the peace held
for this Libty & on or about the fifth day of August 1727 they the said
Wicks & Ellis became Sureties or pledges for the abovenamed Marry
Jones for her appearance at the sd. Sessions to plead to an Indictmt.
agt. them for a trespassd & misdemeansr. prferred agt. them (as this
Dept. is informed) at the Genal quarter Sessions of the peace held
for this Libty the 29th. day of June 1727 for unlawfully & fraudulently
obtaining into their hands from one Susanna Jew< no role > Widdow the same
of twenty shillings (as is alledged in the sd. Indictmt.) which said
recognizances have been respited from being Estreated for seval
years past to & untill the Sessions of the peace held for this Libty the 7th
day of Jany last (as this Dept. is informed) & this Dept. further saith
that the sd. Charles Jones< no role > departed this life about two years agoe &
was buryed in the Churchyard of the parish of St. Giles's in the Feilds
in this County, And that the sd. Mary Jones< no role > (being a miserable poor
Woman ) hath left her place of abode & absconded for about two years
last past & this Dept. hath made strict enquiry to find her out in order
to have her appear & discharge the sd. Indictmt. but this Dept. upon
such inquiry cannot find out the sd. Mary Jones< no role > or learn where
she is & beleives that she is either dead or gone to Ireland & further
saith that he well knows that the sd. Susanna Jew< no role > the psecutor of the
Indictmt . has long since given a genal release, to the sd. Charles Jones< no role >
Mary Jones< no role > upon & concerning the sd. Indictmt. this Dept. having
seen & read over the sd. release, but the same is now lost or mislaid for
which reason this Dept. humbly prays that the sd. recognizances entred
into by him & the sd. other Sureties for the sd. Charles Jones< no role > & Mary
Jones as aforesd. may be respited without day.
