Whereas Since the last Genall Quarter Sessions of the peace holden for this City & Libty
William Elderton< no role > late Cryer of this Court of Quarter Sessions for the Said City & Libty &
alsoe late Governour of the house of Correccon in & for the Same City & Libty is deced
And the Said Severall Offices of Cryer & Governour of the House of Correccon being
now void Her Maties Justices of peace of & for the City & Libty aforesaid now
assembled in Genall Quarter Sessions aforesaid considering of Some proper For
or persons to Supply the Said Offices and Senall Petitions of Several persons were
exhibited to the Said Justices praying that they may be admitted to the Sd Offices
or Offices And a petition of Elizabeth Elderton< no role > widdow of the above named Wm.
Elderton
< no role > was alsoe prsented and read Setting forth her calamitons condicon by
the death of her Said husband his haveing laid out one hundred pounds and
upwards in the Improvement & repair of the Said house of Correccon in his life
time & of her being left with two Small Children in a very low Condition
and praying the Said Justices to releive her in Such manner as to them Should
Seem meet And the Said Justices duely weighing & considering the case &
condicon of the Said Widdow proposed to the Said Candidates Petrs for the Said
Office or Offices & before any their Election to the Same That if they or any of
them Should be chosen to the Said Office or Offices he or they Should consent & be
willing to make Such allowances to the Said Widdow as they the Said Justices
Should think fitt to appoint To which the Said Severall Candidates & Petrs did
consent & agree And Whereas Lawrence Randall< no role > is now chosen Cryer of the
Court of Quarter Sessions for this City & Libty & to have the Fees & perquisites
thereunto belonging And Thomas Evans< no role > is chosen Governour of the house
of Correccon in & for the Said City & Libty and to have the Fees and perquisites
to the Same Office of Governour belonging This Court doth think fitt & it is
accordingly ordered by content That the Said Elizabeth Elderton< no role > be allowed & Shall have
one halfe of the Fees & proffitts of & belonging to the Said Severall Offices of
Cryer of the Court of Quarter Sessions and Governour of the house of
Correccon for & dureing the Term of Two Years comencing from Michael
last That the Said Elizabeth Elderton< no role > Shall have Liberty to be & continue
in he dwelling house of the Said house of Correccon untill Christmas day
now next ensueing So that the Said Thomas Evans< no role > Governour of the Said
house of Correccon now chosen have in the mean time Some one Room or
Conveniency in the Said dwelling house for the more carefull & faithfull
discharge of his Said Office And that if the Said Eliz: Elderton< no role > Shall think fitt
in the Same time and until Christmas next as aforesaid to Sell & utter
any Bread Beer Ale or other liquors or victuall to & among the Prisoners
in the Said house of Correccon or other persons resorting thereto that then
