Whereas by an Order made at the Generall Quarter Sessions of the Peace
held the seaventh day of October last for the Citty and Liberty of Westmr. in the
County of Middx et upon the Humble. Peticenor of Mary Oldner< no role > widdow therein setting
forth That She had been an Inhabitant for Twenty yeares last past in the
Parish of St. Mary Le Strand within the said Liberty and thereby prayed
Releife from the said Parish. It was thereupon referred to Us to Examine
and doe therein as to us should seem meet, In Pursuance whereof Wee
whose names are hereunder Subscribed have Examined the said Mary Oldner< no role >
upon Oath who saith That she was Married to her late husband William
Oldner deceas'd abou three and thirty yeares since who served his
Apprentiship to one William Hatchett< no role > a Taylor in the Parish of Austry in
the County of Warwick, as She hath heard and beleives, And this Examinant
Saith That about Eight and Twenty yeares since, She and her said husband
came to London and Lodged about three yeares and a quarter in the parish of
St. Paul Covent Garden , from whence this Examinant and her said husband
removed into the parish of St. Mary Le Strand and tooke a Shall there, where
they remained about a yeare and three quarters, but still Lodged in Covent Garden ,
And removed from thence to another Stall in the same Parish, and tooke a Roome
there where they Lived about five yeares, from thence they tooke a Cellar in
the same Parish and followed the trade of a Victualler for about two yeares
from Christmas One Thousand Six hundred Ninety One, And paid the Rent of
thirteene pounds P Ann for the said Cellar and paid the Scavengers Rate,
and afterwards tooke another Cellar in the Strand and parish aforesaid, where
they lived about three yeares and an halfe, and paid Ten pounds P Ann
Rent there, And saith that she has ever Since lived in the said parish, till
about seaven weekes before Michas last past, that she went into the precinct
of the Savey . And further Saith That on the Thirtieth day of May last was three
yeares her said late husband Entered himselfe on board her Majestiesship Swiftsure
and dyed on board the said ship soon after as she was Informed and beleives, By
which said Examination it appearing to us That the said William Oldner haveing
lived for neare three and Twenty yeares in the said parish of St Mary Le Strand
and haveing paid Ten pounds and Thirteene pounds P Ann Rent there, where they
kept a Victualling trade, and had a Licence and likewise paid the Scavengers Rate of the
said parish Wee are of Opinion that the place f the last Legall Settlemt. of the said
Mary Oldner< no role > is in the said parish of St. Mary Le Strand to which said parish Wee
have past her, from the precinet of the Savey , Given under Our hands the 28th.
day of November Anno Dui 1709.
