and Libty (Quorum) Inhabiting next the Limits of the Parish Church [..]
of St James in the Libty of Westm . upon Oath of Ann Moorey< no role >
Single Woman Mother of a Female Bastard Child born on the Thirteen
day of March Last past in the house of Mr Cook in Windmill Street
in the said Parish of St. James , and which is named Ann that one Mr
John St Ament of Charing Cross . did beget on ye body
of the said Ann Moorey< no role > the said Female Bastard Child. which Child
is become Chargeable to the said Parish of St James of which the
Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish have Complaind
Wee the said Justices of the peace upon the Examination of the sd Ann
Moorey Mother of the said Female Bastard Child & other Convincing
Circumstances us hereunto moving do hereby adjudge to declare the
said John St Ament to be the reputed Father of The said
Female Bastard Child born of the body of the said Anno Moorey< no role >
as aforesaid, and thereupon Wee do order as well for The releif
and to save harmless and indempnified The said Parish as for
The Maintaining and keeping The said Bastard Child That the said
JohnSt Ament shall pay or cause to be paid to the
Church Wardens and Overseers of the poor of the said Parish for
The time being or to some or one of Them the Sum of Eleven
Shillings and Six pence a Week for the first four Weeks from the
birth of the said Child. and after the Expiration of the first four Weeks
the said John St Ament shall likewise pay or Cause to be paid to
the Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish
for the time being or unto some or one of them Weekly & every
week the Sum of Two Shillings and Six pence of Law full
Money of Great Brittain for and towards the maintainance
and releif of the said Female Bastard Child for so Long time
as the said Female Bastard Child shall remain chargeable
to ye said Parish And Lastly Wee do Order the said John
St Ament do forthwith upon Sight of this our Order a True
Coppy thereof being delivered unto him give Sufficient
Security for the performance of the same or otherwise to
find Securitys to answer his Contempt and To abide such
further Order as the Court of Justices Assembled in their
Quarter Sessions for the Libty of Westmr. shall then think
fit to make therein Given under our hands and
Seals the 25th day of May. 1709.
