Whereas due proof hath been made before us Philip Howard< no role > &
John Tully< no role > Esqrs . two of her Majties. Justices of the peace for the sd County &
Libty (Quor um) Inhabiting next the Limits of the Parish Church of St
James in the Libty of Westmr . upon Oath of Sarah Fisher< no role > Single
Woman Mother of a Male Bastard Child, born on the Twelfth day
of May Last past in the house of Mrs. Margarett Loveday< no role > in
Poter Street in the said Parish of St James . Westmr. That Mr Robert
Newbury
< no role > of Ben yard near Doctors Commons Lond. did begett on the
body of the said Sarah Fisher< no role > the said Male Bastard Child. wth: Child
is become Chargeable to the said Parish of St James of which the
Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish have Complaind
Wee the said Justices of the peace upon the Examination of the said Sarah
Fisher Mother of the said Male Bastard Child & other Convincing
Circumstances no hereunto moving do hereby adjudge and declare
the said Robert Newbury< no role > to be the reputed Father of the said Male
Bastard Child born of the body of the said Sarah Fisher< no role > as aforesaid
and thereupon Wee do Order as well fr the releife To save harmless and
Indempnified the said Parish as for the Maintaining and keeping the
said Bastard Child. that the said Robert Now bury shall pay or Cause to be
paid to the Church Wardens and Overseers of the poor of the said Parish
for the time being or to some or one of them the Sum of Eleven shillings &
Six pence a Week for the first Four Weeks from the birth of the said Child
and after the Expration of the first Four Weeks the said Robert Newbury< no role >
shall likewise pay or cause to be paid to the Church Wardens and Overseers
of the Poor of the said Parish for the Time being or to some or one of them
Weekly and every Weeks the Sum of Two shillings and Six pence of Law full
Money of Great Brittain for and towards the maintainance & releif of
the said [..] Male Bastard Child for so LongTime as the said Male Bastard
Child shall remain Chargeable to ye sd Parish. And Lastly Wee do
Order the said Robert Newbury< no role > do forthwith upon Sight of this our
Order a true Coppy thereof being delivered unto him give Sufficient
Security for the performance of the same or otherwise to find Securitys.
to answer his Contempt and to abide such further Order as the Court of
Justices Assembled in their Quarter Sessions to be hold for the Libty
of Westmr. Shall then think fitt to make therein Given under four
hands and Seals the 30th. day of June. 1709.
