been thrown out and made to induce the Tenants
of all the aforesaid Royal Hospitals or some of
them to apply to the Court of Common Council for
Leases to be granted them of the Premises by
them respectively contracted for and absolutely
agreed to be taken of the said Hospitals
without the concurrence of the President, Treasurers
Governors or other Officers of such Hospitals
and if such measures succeed the Rents
and profits of the estates belonging to the
different Hospitals instead of being received
by the Treasurers of the respective Hospitals
as hath been usual for very many years
and since the foundation of the said Hosptl.
respectively to be by them applied for the
Charitable purposes of those Hospitals as
heretofore will be received by the Chamberlain
of the City of London.

That not only secret and indirect
applications have been made to divers
Tenants of the said Hospitals respectively
but open and direct applications have been
made to such Tenants and particularly
that Application hath been lately made
to Messrs. Baynes & Co. or one of them (who
are Tenants by several Contracts for a
considerable part of the estates of Bredewell
Hospital) by or in the name of the said
Committee appointed to enquire into the
right of Common Council aforesaid to be
Governors of the Royal Hospitals at the
house of the aforesaid Alderman Crosby
who was Chairman or first named on such
