Sallaries Annually, As One Physitian, One Surgeon and Mate have at
Plymouth Portsmouth Rochester and Deale who by the Lords of the Nomiralty's
Order had £400: P Annu Wee should have Earned in 10 yeares time £4000:
Whereas now at the Rate of 6s:8d: P head Wee have no more then £1382: Without
any Regard to the time Wee have been out of the Money not having
received one farthing to this Day.

2Wee also forgott in our Demands to Reckon the many
Amputacons for which every Chyrurgion at the Ports are allowed 20s: by
your Beard; besides lingring tedious Distempers under which many have
been our patients for Months and Yeares which the Surgeons at the Ports are
never troubled with but send them up to us.

3:Wee might mencon the Advantage to the Governement of 12d: P
diem for Each Season's Quarters which at the Ports is paid, but to our house
Nothing, tho' the Seamen are much better Accommodated both for Dyett
Lodging and Cures As your Honours have seen at your often Visitacons

Wee are Unwilling to Trouble you with Repetitions of Argumts:
knowing that you are sensible how ready and Carefull Wee have been
at all times And what Benefitt hath accrued to the Governement by our
Service dureing the late Man and probally much more in time to come

Wee therefore Request Wee may not be discouraged by any
further Delays, or forced to make Applicacons where wee are Confident our
modest Request will easily be Granted.

To the Physitian and Surgeons of St Thomas Hospitall

For Cure of 4146: Sick and Wounded Seamen sent by the said Comr:
order into the said Hospitall Between the Year 1689 and the 30 June
1698:

At 6s:8d p head accounts to £1382.

The Board upon reading the Representacon of the Physitian and
Surgeon of St Thomas; Hospitall and hearing them personally to their
Allegacons

Took it into their Consideracon.

And upon Examining of their own Instruccons relateing to the Hospitalls
in Generall Did find full and particuler direccons therein to pay the
Physitians and Surgeons And all other things necessary for the Cures of
sick and Wounded Seamen in the said Hospitalls though no Certaine
Establishment by yearly Sallary. Gratuites, or by the head which at other
ports is 6s:8d for Cures of Each Seamen And is the Allowance which they in
the abovesaid Representacon do request.

Which by Computacon wee find as followeth

1:That a Gratuity could be lesse than £200 P Annu which would not be
