4029 last Abraham Wood< no role > late of Westminster Coal Merchant: For a certain
Misdemeanor; For that he having a certain Ticket
or Certificate in Writing made by one John Clotworthy< no role >
a Coal Master , for Twenty Chaldrons of Coals, in his
possession: and fraudulently intending to cheat and
defraud, the Governors and directors of the poor of the
Parish of St George Hanover Square of One Cauldron
of Coals, of the val of 44sh. Falsely fraudulently and
deceitfully did alter and cause and procure to be
altered, the said Ticket by obliterating and erasing
the figure or Cypher O in the said number Twenty
so written upon the said Ticket and by falsely making
forging and counterfeiting and causing and procuring
to be falsely made forged and counterfeited upon the
said Ticket the figure 1 after the said figure 2. in
heir of the said figure or cypher O: By means whereof
the said Ticket so altered falsely denoted that the
said Coals amounted to 21 Chaldrons: and falsely
fraudulently and deceitfully delivering and causing
to be delivered to the said Governors and directors
the said 20 Chaldrons of Coals as and for 21 Chaldron
of Coals, and falsely and fraudulently publishing
and causing to be published the said Ticket so
altered as aforesaid as and for a true Ticket of the
Quantity of Coals delivered with intent to cheat
and defraud the said Governors and directors: on
the 10th. day of July last.
