On the prosecution of
William Smith< no role > for
Petty Larceny

John Annis< no role > of Wapping Street in the Parish
of Saint John of Wapping in the County of
Middlesex Victualler maketh Oath and saith that
on or about the Fifteenth day of January now
last past he this Deponent became bound [..]
a Recognizance of Twenty pound before John
Staples
< no role > Esqr. one of his Majestys Justices of the
Peace in and for the said County of Middlesex to
appear in this Court and give Evidence on
his Majestys behalf at the then next February
Session to be holden for the said County on a
bill of Indictment to be preferred against the
above named Defendant Elizabeth Briton for
Feloniously stealling taking and Carrying away
One quart pewter pot of the value of ten pence
the property of William Smith< no role > ; And this Deponent
further saith that after his so becoming bound
in such Recognizance and before the Commencement
of the said February Session (to wit) on or about
the Twenty fourth day of the same month of
January he this Deponent was apprehended
an Suspicion of Felony and Committed to his
Majestys Goal of Newgate for trial where this
Deponent remained in Custody and was
Confined until April Session following where
this Deponent was tried for the said Felony
at Justice Hall in the Old Bailey and
honorably acquitted, And this Deponent
further
