The King on the Prosecution of Elizabeth Hughes< no role > Plaintiff
and
William Carr< no role > Defendant

William Carr< no role > of Great Russell Street Tottenham
Court Road in the County of Middlesex Painter Maketh
Oath and Saith that having been taken in Custody at
the Suit of the above named Elizabeth Hughes< no role > he
this Deponent did apply to and employ a Mr Langham
of Bartletts Buildings Holborn as his Attorney to
appear and plead for him this Deponent herein and
thelastSession before the last and this Deponent did then appear
and plead to the above mentioned Indictment but
this Deponent Saith that his said Attorney informed
this Deponent on the Saturday evening next preceeding the end of
the last Sessions that he was so engaged with business
in the house of Common that he could not possibly attend
to the trial of this Cause which was for the Monday then
following and His Deponent saith that he not receiving
such notice till late on the said Saturday evening he this
Deponent found himself unable to try this cause at the last
Sessions
