That there has been indeed and Still exists a fever in
Clerkenwell Bridewell and from which No prison
where so many are confined can be quite free
but if is not of a Nature particularly Malignant
and Not of that Sort which is termed the Goal
Distemper

Thos. Gibbes< no role > Apothecary
Wm. Chamberlaine< no role > Apothecary

Your Committee thereupon

Ordered That all The Beds in the Sick Ward of Clerken
well Bridewell be repaired and New Stuffing be
supplied taking care to have the Tiking well
Aired

That every Bed be supplied with a New Rug
where wanted and if any additional Covering may be
necessary for the Sick that the same be supplied upon a Certificate
from the Apothecary

It farther appears that many of the Disorders are occasioned by
the Prisoners coming in in a Weak & debilitated State of Health
covered with Rags & Vermin & that if some Dress or Uniform was
provided for them to wear in the Prison it might be the means of
preventing many of the Disorders incident to Prisons

It is therefore the Opinion of this Committee that a Dress consisting
of a Packet & Trowsers & a pair of Shoes & two Shirts where it
may be necessary may be provided for the Men
