MIDDLESEX


AT the General quarter Session of the Peace of our
Lord the King, holden in and for the County of Middlesex , at
the Session House for Said County, (by Adjournment)
on Thursday the Twenty Ninth Day of March in
the Thirty Second Year of the Reign of our Sovereign
Lord GEORGE the Third, King of Great Britain, Etc. Before
William Maninwaring< no role > , William Bleamire< no role > , John Pownall< no role >
Nathaniel Conant< no role >
Esquires , and others their Fellows, Justices of our Said Lord the
King, assigned to keep the Peace in the County aforesaid; and
also to hear and determine divers Felonies, Trespasses, and other
Misdemeanours Committed in the Same County.

Whereas James Melvin< no role > of New Bond Street Perfumer Hath at this present
Session Exhibited his Petition and Appeal Setting forth that He was on or about the
Seventeenth day of February last past Convicted in the Penalty of Five Pounds by Sir
Sampson Wright< no role > Knight one of the Justices of the Peace for the said County upon an
Information Exhibited and Prosecuted by Richard King< no role > Charging that He the Petitioner
on the 26th day of January 1792 did send to one Thomas Treeyearn< no role > in a Certain Shop
in new Bond Street a Packet of Violet Powder for the Hair for One Shilling Subject to
the duty of one penny of which said Shop Notice in Writing had been sent to the Commissioners
for managing the duties on Stamped Vellum Etc no Cover Wrapper on Label by the Act
directed being previous to such Tale well and Sufficiently pasted stuck fastened or
affixed thereto contrary to the Statute Etc whereby the Petitioner conceived himself aggrieved
Now upon hearing the said Appeal and what hath been alledged by the respective
Parties and their Counsel in and Concerning the Premises It is Ordered that the Said
Appeal be and the same is hereby dismissed and that the said Conviction be and the same is hereby
Afirmed
